About

KnitHit

How It All Started

KnitHit was born in 2013 when Olivia and her sister in Toronto, Canada, decided to combine their shared love of knitting into something the whole community could enjoy. Both working full time and struggling to find time to meet up and share ideas, they channeled their passion into building a website with original, well-organized, and high-quality knitting stitch patterns.

Their mission was straightforward: create a site where every visitor could easily find a pattern they’d love, with clear instructions and consistent quality. Over the next few years, they built a library of 48 unique stitch patterns across four categories — basic stitches, laces, cables, and ornaments — earning a loyal following of knitters around the world.

A Fresh Chapter

After a few quiet years, KnitHit has new ownership and a renewed purpose. The site is being rebuilt with the same commitment to quality that Olivia and her sister established — clear diagrams, accurate row-by-row instructions, and patterns organized by skill level so you always know what you’re getting into.

We’re bringing back the original patterns that knitters loved, expanding the library with new designs, and adding helpful extras like project ideas, yarn and needle recommendations, and tips to help you get the best results from every pattern.

What We Offer

Every pattern on KnitHit is completely free and includes full written instructions, skill level ratings, stitch multiples, and suggestions for how to use each pattern in your projects. We organize our patterns into four main categories:

Basic Stitches — The foundations every knitter needs. Stockinette, garter, rib, seed stitch, and their variations.

Laces — Delicate openwork patterns featuring eyelets, yarn overs, and decorative decreases. Beautiful for shawls, scarves, and lightweight garments.

Cables — Textured twist and braid patterns that add bold dimension to sweaters, blankets, and accessories.

Ornaments — Colorwork motifs and decorative stitch patterns for adding character to any project.
