Cables are one of the most traditional knitting techniques. We introduce you this very basic, stylish and classy cable knitting pattern – simple rope cable; the cable every novice will find easy and fun to knit.

Skill level: 2/4 skill-2

Diagram:

For simple rope cable you’ll need multiple of 10 + 2 edge stitches.
Work the right and the wrong side following the diagram.

                6 sts left cable (slide 3 stitches to cable needle and hold it in front of work, k3, k3 from cable needle)

Row by row instructions:

Work right side rows (1, 3, etc.) from right to left, as shown in the diagram. Work all stitches on the wrong side as they appear.
Row 1:  edge st, p2, 6 sts left cable, p2, edge st
Wrong side (Row 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12):  edge st, k2, p6, k2, edge st
Right side (row 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11): edge st, p2, k6, p2, edge st
Repeat rows 1 through 12
